oliver 1900-1950 flywheel specs and differences

Posted by Gary on February 27, 2018, 4:49 pm

hello, i am looking for information about the flywheels on the detroit diesel engines used in the oliver 1900 and 1950 series tractors... the information i need is the dimensions of the bolt circle of the flywheel and any differenceses there are.. i was asking a parts guy for a flywheel for a 1900 tractor and was told that he would need a engine serial number to get me the correct part.. i dont have any numbers to give him because i want to use a detroit 6v53 engine to repower a cockshutt 560 tractor... so im looking for a flywheel that i can make the clutch and independent live pto work. the spline count and diameter on the cockshutt 560 are the same for an oliver 1855 series tractor.. thanks for any information you can provide and pass on Gary

oliver 1650 gas two plugs side by side keep fouling out.

Posted by Terry Rasmussen on February 24, 2018, 10:57 am

My Oliver 1650 has two plugs 6 and 5 that keep fouling out . Distributor is new cap new wires new . also new electronic ignition. Compression is 175 to 180 on all cylinders. plugs are vey black.

The last one I had doing that had a cracked head. Could be a bad head gasket. Warm up the engine to operating temp. Shut down and let sit over night. Start and immediately shut off. Take out number five and six plugs and look for water droplets on plug electrodes. Have you eliminated electrical possibilities? Cap, wires, coil, etc

Thank you I tried checking for water droplets all I saw was very dry like black powder on plugs. cap , wires, coil, all new . I did have a very big backfire back when they put in the new distributor . the distributor came with the bottom part on backwards. that had it 180 off. thoughts ?

Hmmm. Good question!! What are you using for spark plugs? I use Champion N11Y. Larry

1948 Oliver 88 #120357

Posted by Jay Vaughn on February 19, 2018, 9:28 am

Larry, I am attempting to resurrect this old West Texas Oliver. switches and gauges are gone in the dash as well as the wiring. I can not figure out if this Tractor is 6 volt or 12 volt. I have read data that states it both ways. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks from Arizona

Re: 1948 Oliver 88 #120357

Posted by Gary on February 28, 2018, 1:25 am, in reply to "1948 Oliver 88 #120357"

the first thing to notice for voltage on a tractor like this is to know if it is a gas powered tractor or diesel.... the gas tractor will be 6 volt with positive ground. the gauges in the dash in the center hole will be the Amp gague on the left hole the water temp and in the right hole the oil pressure gague... there will be a place to mount a large push button swith on the left side to accutate the starter motor. and some where on the right a place to mount an ignition swith... consult a wiring diagram... the negative battery cable will go to one of two lugs on the large push button switch with the second lug going to the starter motor. on the first lug of the push large push button swith the same lug where the negative battery cable comes from the battery. there should be a 10 gauge wire from that lug to one terminal on the amp gauge. then on the other gauge terminal a wire will be used to go to any asseory switches like the igniton switch, light switch... this will allow the amp gauge to sense how many amps are being used in the system when the tractor is on.... this should get you started.

1979 White 2-105 air conditioning blower motor

Posted by Wesley Ellis on February 18, 2018, 3:20 pm

I replaced the original 2 speed blower motor with a new 3 speed motor and now the air flow is not as strong. Could I have been sold the wrong blower motor? I was told that it didn't matter if it was a 3 speed instead of the original 2 speed. Any ideas as to why my air flow is not as strong?

Oliver 88 diesel

Posted by Tom on February 17, 2018, 6:04 am

I purchased a 195? Oliver 88 diesel. It has not been ran in many years. What precautions should I take before attempting to start. Thanks for any info.

Re: Oliver 88 diesel

Posted by Larry Harsin on March 28, 2018, 9:20 am, in reply to "Oliver 88 diesel "

I'd remove the valve cover and make sure no valves are stuck. Before you try to turn the engine, put WD-40 and clean diesel fuel in the head of the injection pump. You can force fuel through the injection pump by using the primer pump on the right side of the engine. If you need more info, call me. 712-362-2966 Larry

thanks

What seems to be the trouble? Do you know the last time the pump and injectors have been worked on? Unless you know how to reinstall, time, and bleed the system, you may want to take it to someone who does. Have the filters been changed lately? Arnie

Oliver 1600 industrial TLB

Posted by Ludolph H. Conklin on February 7, 2018, 11:16 am

Hi,I have what I believe is a 1966 1600 industrial TLB. It is well worn although the 6 cyl. gas engine starts and runs well. Only one gear range works. When you try any of the others, the tractor doesn't move. It has the reverse-o-torque, which I have to fill now and then, when the transmission seems to be slipping. I imagine it would be expensive to fix these issues. I am somewhat handy, but splitting a tractor and working on the transmission/torque converter would be way beyond me.
Thanks, Hank Conklin

You don't have to "split" an Oliver to work on the reverseo torque/ HP drive. just pull the engine and the whole thing is there to work on.

diesel fuel in oil pan

Posted by Tom Rowe-Drake on February 7, 2018, 7:57 am

Hi Larry, I have a 1954 88 row crop that had 9 Qt.'s fluid in the base when i got it. I unbolted the lift pump and worked the lever with no fuel leaks observed. So I'm thinking it's a Bosch pump issue. My AGCO dealer thought it was the filter screw o-ring, item # 63 on page 3-39 pt# K-5739. In your history with Olivers have you found this to be the only cause? Grateful for your input. Tom

If it isn't the transfer pump, it could be the seal that you are referring to. Larry

the engine used in the oliver 1950t-1955 tractor is completely different than the engines used in the oliver 1750-1855 tractors... the heads are different the block is different. the oliver 1950t-1955 engine has a built in engine oil cooler built into the block along with oil cooling jets for the pistons. that are not included in the 1750 1855 engine. the best thing might be to rebuild an oliver 1955 engine and use that assembly in your 1855 crankshaft, anyways i do have a 310 block with a usable crankshaft that will work for rebuilding your 1855 engine....my email is tractorman7788@yahoo.com

Oliver 70 Front Crankshaft Oil Seal

Posted by David Baker on February 2, 2018, 1:07 am

Where can I find one? Everybody has the back seal, but I cannot locate the front one. Late model (1948) Oliver 70 Standard.

I purchased a new after-market water pump (600K411 type, "left-hand water hose"). It did not come with a seal. Can't locate one. Do I just make a seal with some goop?

Larry found a super 66 diesel been sitting under cover for about 2 years before starting I put new fuel in tank but is there anything with the pump I need to do? Someone said I need to test to see if its free so damage is done when I try and turn it over. Any advise? Thanks Ron

I have a 1650 oliver that I have had for years. When backing up there's a screeching sound out from under the floor pan when transmission is under a y pressure. I always applied a little pressure with the brakes to make it go a way. Any idea what the problem may be?
