It might be a loose shifting fork. Remove the shift tower and look in there and see if the bolts are tight on the forks. Larry

Oliver 1650 cooling

IP: 76.3.34.238 Posted on June 22, 2015 at 07:34:57 PM by Justin gravitt

I have a Oliver 1650 diesel that when mowing it is getting hot. I didn't know if I could trust the gauge so when it showed hot I used a digital automotive thermometer and the temp around the head showed 220 and both the upper and lower radiator hoses showed 185. Shouldn't one hose be cooler than the other or does that seem normal?

The lower hose should be cooler than the top hose. You may need to replace the thermostat. Larry

1755 hydraulics

IP: 67.238.18.88 Posted on June 18, 2015 at 07:31:57 PM by Mike Greenland

We have a 1755 diesel that the hydraulics get very hot. The lines are so hot, they will blister ones skin and as a result the pto will not work and the implement is jerky when it lowers. The tractor has been down for 10+ years for engine and over/under overhaul and this is the "maiden" voyage. The hydraulics worked fine before. I know the correct oil is used and is filled to capacity. As soon as the engine fires, I hear a whining and the compensator valve starts getting warm. I plumbed in a gauge as the manual says and it was reading 2000 psi at rated speed. I tweaked the compensator up to 2200, so it responded to my adjustments. I bled the system at the filter and at first it just dripped, but now it a small steady flow, it doesn't pour out. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!!

External Hydraulics Super 55 Diesel

IP: 99.195.242.227 Posted on June 16, 2015 at 09:27:52 PM by Doug Reinsch

I just purchased a 1957 Super 55 Diesel. I would like to use it on a 7' haybine but I need to add a remote valve. I haven't had any luck finding an original one so I was considering an aftermarket valve. It seems there are three bolt holes on the right side of the housing in front of the seat. can I come directly out of that housing with my lines or do I have to have a small housing that bolts on to the main housing and come out of it with my lines? Do you have any recommendations? Do you know where I can get an original one?

Won't start in warm weather without either slight miss should valves be checked and reground when running has extra puff of smoke when slight miss occurs

Re(1): 770 diesel

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on June 9, 2015 at 06:41:45 AM by Larry Harsin It could be valves or it could be an injector that needs to be checked out. Larry

Oliver 1800 Series B with USX-37 Carburetor

IP: 50.124.57.68 Posted on June 6, 2015 at 08:40:57 AM by Jim Badder

I purchased an Oliver 1800 B gas tractor a few years ago that was in poor repair. The tractor S/N is 126275 844. The cylinder block P/N is 155270-A. The problem is that I cannot find a tach drive unit that will engage the distributor drive gear. The distributor P/N is a Delco-Remy 112563 4000. The tach drive unit that came with the tractor has a spiral driven gear that is 0.600 inches in diameter and has 13 teeth. The tach drive housing P/N is 100580 (Maybe a casting no.). I have purchased an aftermarket parts manual, but this did not help me solve the problem. When taking the tach drive off the tractor, and turning the driven gear the tach cable end turns normally. Apparently either the tach drive driven gear or the distributor drive gear is not correct. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

I am in need of a new seal for the bolt on my canister oil filter, on my Oliver 1650 diesel tractor, or a bracket to change it to a spin-on type filter. Please let me know if you have either or know where I can get either. Thanks Chuck Jackson

Oliver 1800 A Hydraulic Unit

IP: 63.111.38.91 Posted on June 4, 2015 at 08:21:41 AM by Ross

My 1800 A seems to have abnormally high pressure at the remotes at all times. (Compared to all my other 4 digits) It's very hard to couple up hoses even with the new style Pioneer couplers. I also tried hooking up a One way cylinder (forklift mast) and it just kept raising, even with the lever in neutral and would not go back down. Any ideas on what o check out? Thanks!

Make sure you have at least 1 1/2 inches of free play at the three point lift arms when the 3 point is fully raised, adj. turnbuckle between the 3Pt hand lever and the arm below it to get there (engine running), for single acting cyl's use RH remote and back out recessed screw (interlock bleed screw) 1 1/2 turns, Lifting a load with the 3pt with a single acting cyl. on a remote will cause the S.A. cyl. to extend. It's the a built in situation and can only be fixed by using a separate valve plumbed from the power beyond ports. I'm not sure if the power beyond info is in the Operators manual, you can get the correct info for sure from the Shop manuals available from the.

1550 clutch

IP: 71.164.70.95 Posted on May 31, 2015 at 11:05:04 AM by robert lapage

Hi Larry We checked the throw out bearing holder and thats in place. Installed the clucth and the rod has very little or no adj. left. Is there a difference in a clutch for a 1550 vs a 1550 utility with a short front end? The pressure plate seems to be about 6 inches from the shaft. Not too sure what else to try.. Thanks. Robert

Re(1): 1550 clutch

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on June 1, 2015 at 06:53:14 AM by Larry Harsin

The finger height on the pressure plate may be low. Or, you may have a bad key where the throwout shaft fits on the clutch. Larry

IP: 163.153.134.32 Posted on June 2, 2015 at 11:52:40 AM by robert lapage

I did check the key it appears fine. The pressure plate mounts up fine. Ca n I get a thicker pp to make it move closer to the throw out bearing? There seems to be too much travel before it hits the pp. Thanks... Robert

Re(3): 1550 clutch

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on June 3, 2015 at 07:27:26 AM by Larry Harsin

I would adjust the fingers on the pressure plate out a little bit. Larry

Larry I am thinking the throw out bearing fork may be on backwards. Do you know if the bolt goes in from the front or from the back? Mine goes in from the front....Thanks
