Hi Cousin...yep, my guess is that we're related. I was also born and raised in Nora Springs by the way.

Nice to hear from you and if you can send more detail - dad's name - grandpa's name - that sort of thing, I can probably pin it down more for you. As a matter of fact I'd be surprised if I didn't know them both back in "the day".

Best regards...

Hi Larry,
It's your cousin Joe again. I talked to my Mom and she filled me in on the family tree a bit more. I'm 51 years old. I have an older Brother Darryl who's 58, another brother that passed away in 1972, David. A twin sister, Diane, and a younger sister Cathy who's 46. My father was Howard, he passed in 1992. My mother is Mary Ann (Sandy), she's 79 now.

My father's father was also Howard, and his mother was Hettie. My great Grandfather was Humphry Morphew, married to Elizabeth Mae. We have lots of cousins here in the Chicago area. Maybe we should start a family tree?

My mother said that you would have to be the son of Darryl and Dorothy Morphew. And that you would have had two brothers, Clark and Nolan. Nolan being the oldest.

Talk to you later. Joe

Yep..that's us! Howard was my father's favorite brother. I remember him talking about what a fine person Howard was and not just once in awhile but he mentioned it often. When I was a child of about 10 yrs of age, my dad (Darrell) announced that we were going to Chicago to see Howard who was in hospital dying of cancer. They didn't let kids in to hospitals as visitors back then but dad and mom went in to say farewell to Howard. I remember that the experience really put dad in the dumps for a long while.

I know of some of the cousins in Chicago and have spent time with many. A group usually comes out to Nora springs each year to decorate family graves but I must admit that I haven't seen anyone for 8 or 10 years. There is a photo on the internet of your grandfather's and grandmother's graves which you can see by clicking on this link: http://morpheweb.com/morphgenealogy/nscem.html

I usually go back to Nora Springs each spring and put modest decorations/flowers on the graves as well. Plus my brother Nolan mows and trims all the Morphew graves a few times each summer.

My other brother, Clark, passed away in 2002. He was a minister and nationally syndicated religion writer. Much material about him is located at: http://clarkmorphew.com/

I do have a family tree site up on the internet and it is so full of info that it will take a lot of time to look it over. The start page is at: http://morpheweb.com/morphgenealogy/

Your great grandmother Lizzie's diary is up on the internet too. Feel free to print it off for your mother to read. It starts at: http://morpheweb.com/lizziept_1.html

Well, that'll give you something to look at for awhile, and write back as you can - your emails will always be welcome here. Stay in touch!

best wishes, cuz...
