Larry, I have a 1954 Oliver 770, that is loosing oil down into the tranny. I know the hyd. pump seal is out, do you repair pumps if I sent it to you, and can you advise me of the cost? I had a local dealer replace it about 5 years ago, started leaking about 1 year ago, now looses fluid fast. Thank you, Ed Brown

1655 hydraulics
IP: 184.61.194.167 Posted on April 27, 2016 at 09:37:16 AM by Travis
Hi Larry, I have a 1655 diesel that I want to put an auxiliary belt drive hydraulic pump off the front of the engine. What I'm wondering is, 1) am I OK with belt driven or should I run a shaft off the front of the crank and then use a love joy or such to couple up the pump. and 2) can I tap into the hydraulic reservoir that is already on the tractor or do I need a separate reservoir and filter system. If I can use the tractor hydraulic reservoir, where would I tap into it. Thanks so much.

I would think the best would be to use a shaft off the front of the engine. You need a separate system. I wouldn't tap into the one for the tractor. Larry
2-88 transmission
IP: 68.235.74.2 Posted on April 26, 2016 at 12:30:13 PM by bernie uran
I own a White Field Boss fwa(2-88) tractor which has the dual range transmission along with the Over,Under.direct as well. It has about 6000hours on it and has the right hand console shift linkage as opposed to the floor shift lever on my 2-105. The tractor transmission jumps out of 5th gear, and a friend tells me that it is a problem inside the transmission case,as adjusting the external linkage does not cure the problem. I have a cab on the tractor, but it appears that the transmission cover may be removable without taking off the cab. Have you any suggestions as to what may be affecting 5th and possibly 2nd gear? Is it possible to remove a shift fork without splitting the tractor? I thank you in advance for any help which you may give me. Sincerely, Bernie Uran

I am changing the oil in my oil bath air breather on diesel Oliver 88. Manual says to use same oil as in crankcase. Would you agree with that or use a lighter grade like 5W-30? I am thinking a lighter grade.

Oliver super 88 clutch
IP: 184.61.194.167 Posted on April 23, 2016 at 07:12:42 PM by Travis
Hi Larry, I'm asking this question for my Grandpa. He has always used olivers for many years and he likes the clutch setup on his 880 much better then the super 88. He says that because of the way the linkages are set up the clutch is much easier to push on his 880. He is wondering if it is possible to put a clutch on a super 88 from an 880. Would the bell housing and all of it bolt up or not. If not would it be able to be reto fitted some other way. He says that the frame of the tractors are the same as near as he can tell, but wasn't sure if the clutch housing and such matched as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

If it is a late 77 or 88, like a '57 or '58, it is easy to do. I think I might have the parts if you need them. If it is older than that, you can still do it, but it would be more involved. Larry 712-362-2966

I have an 1800 with a bad motor in it, I bought a used (said to be good) 1950T motor to swap in it. When rolling the flywheel over by hand, the motor will stop, then will stop about 300 degrees the other way so I am convinced there is a muddobbers nest or something on top of a piston. Should I; Pull the head to see? if so Im having a hard time finding a head gasket under 200 dollars, and that just seems unreal to me. Or 2, Remove the injectors? I have tried some but did not want to break the bodies off in the head, wasnt sure if a would be able to find those either. Both the motor and tractor have been sitting for probably 4 years so its not going to be an easy project. Lance

Could anyone tell me where I might find a hydraulic Boom cylinder repacking kit for my 1964 White Oliver 1600 Backhoe. Every site I go to has nothing but the hyd. pump. I have gone to two hydraulic shop and all they tell me to do is bring it in so they can work on it, because they don't know what v pack will work until its apart. I don't want to take it apart until I find a kit because it is still operational for the most part. Is there a kit from another backhoe that might work? Thank you, Mr. Harsin. Also, there is a problem in the powersteering. Maybe you can help me diagnose the problem faster. Tractor will turn left, but will not turn back right. I have to put the loader all the way down to get the front tires up off the ground, then shut the machine off, steer where i want it the go, than start it back up. Sometimes after it warms up it will work right for awhile, but it is happening more and more frequently. I just bought the backhoe and am new to Oliver. Thank you in advance. Jesse

880 fuel pressure
IP: 67.3.10.218 Posted on April 8, 2016 at 03:31:08 PM by HONGISTO IMPLEMENT
We are still having problems getting this 880 to run. The injector pump has been rebuild, we have changed the lift pump twice. But the replacement lift pumps don't look the same as the old one that you can see has check valves in it. What should the pressure be coming out of the lift pump. we have none. Do the new pumps not have check valves in them? And if so can you still repair the old one? it was also leaking fuel into the crankcase. I thank you for your time. Have a great day.
Re(1): 880 fuel pressure
IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on April 9, 2016 at 08:47:53 AM by Larry Harsin
The old pumps had check valves in them. You can get repair kits for the pumps from Korves Oliver. 618-939-6681. There will be a new diaphram and new check valves with the repair kit. As far as pressure is concerned, I open the line on the injection head on the left side of the tractor. Then, turn the engine with the starter. If fuel squirts out, I assume it is o.k.

Oliver 1750 hydraulic problems
IP: 66.87.75.172 Posted on April 3, 2016 at 11:02:23 AM by Joshua Drew
Hello Larry, first off thank you for your time and dedication to these tractors. I have used your page many times for help and guidance. I have a very specific problem and have looked through the posts and found similar problems but nothing the same. I have a Oliver 1750 with a gas Waukesha 283. Serial number 185 595-42. It has a loader hooked up to the rear remotes. While sitting on the tractor, the remote farthest to the right has always bleed off slowly when under a load only. It controls the tilt on the bucket. It's never been bad enough to bother me, but now that I have a heavy blade hooked to the 3 point it bleeds off really fast. If I have the blade raised off the ground I can literally watch the bucket bleed off and tilt down within about 30 seconds. I have checked all the hoses and fittings first, no leaks. Seems odd that weight being on the 3 point makes my remote bleed off. Any ideas of where to start? The blade is a bush hog 100-09, weighs about 800-900 pounds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try switching the hoses on the remote on that side and see what happens. If that stops the problem, you probably have leakage in your tractor. If it still leaks or lowers down, you could have a problem in one of your loader cylinders. Larry
