That kit should fit. The 1800 and the 1850 are in the same family, so it should work. Larry

Oliver Super 77 wobble in front end

IP: 100.16.40.62 Posted on December 20, 2015 at 11:53:02 AM by Patrick Graham

I recently purchased a Oliver super 77 with power steering. I was trying it out and noticed that it had a really bad wobble In the front end when you are in the higher gears like 3,4,5,6 . what could possibly causes this to happen ?

It's probably loose from wear in the steering unit. It needs to be adjusted. Before you do anything, jack the tractor up and see if the wheels are out of balance. You might have a tire with a boot in it. That would make it heavier and out of balance. Larry

I have an oliver 88 Have did a refurbishing on motor. Around 65 hp. Some old oliver pullers told me to put a 1650 cam in next, said this helped them with more hp., and torque. would this help? Pull in classes 5000-8500 3-4 mph. thank you

I'm not sure that that would help. I don't know. Larry

770 Generator/Regulator

IP: 67.134.99.116 Posted on December 15, 2015 at 11:06:10 PM by dave forehan

I have a 770 gas that I have had for twenty years or so. I noticed the other day after I ran it a couple hours that I had battery acid all over the battery and the caps popped loose on the battery. My voltmeter shows about 17 volts across the battery. Only about 12.8 on an idle. I bought a new regulator but it didn't help. The wiring on the engine is original. The wiring at the gauges is all changed by a previous owner. Is there something that I can check or should I just take the regulator and generator to a shop? Great site!! I didn't know this resource existed. Thanks a lot.

Take the generator and regulator to a repair shop and have them checked out. Larry

1550 Oliver gas

IP: 50.124.120.5 Posted on December 14, 2015 at 09:01:59 PM by Jim

I have purchased a 1550 which has sat outside in the woods for about 5-6 years without being run. I drained the trans/final and got about 13 gallons of chocolate milk out. Hydraulic level was low, but we added some to it to get the loader and brush hog up to get it on trailer. After I got it in the garage I pumped the hyd fluid out into a pail, changed filter and filled with new fluid. Now the 3 point won't go down and there is a clunking noise coming from hyd unit? Anything obvious I'm overlooking? Thank you..

Well, you bought a mess. You know when you pull something like that in that it was parked there for a reason. You are just going to have to start checking things over until you find a problem and then maybe I can help you. But, sight unseen, it's hard to know what is wrong. Larry

It's weird because the loader and 3 point worked perfect when we first got the tractor running (had to add oil then it worked) did I possibly damage something ( the pump) by pumping to much hyd fluid out? I used the right side remote lines to pump the fluid out... I have a operators manual and a shop manual on the way... can that top cover come off fairly easy? With fluid in it? Can the pump be changed from the top? Thank you..

No. I don't think you damaged it by pumping the fluid out. The top cover can be taken off. The pump cannot be changed from the top. You have to take the whole hydraulic unit off of the tractor to change the pump. Larry

I figured it out.. tractor was plumbed for power and beyond. We removed the loader but we did not hook the hoses together! Oil had nowhere to go that's where my noise was coming from.. looped the hose back to the return side and all is good... thank you

1850 diesel

IP: 96.31.23.177 Posted on December 14, 2015 at 07:52:23 PM by Aaron Alons

I have an 1850 diesel that when I start and drive only goes half the speed it should. It goes into all 6 forward gears and the under/direct increases/decreases speed like it should. Another time I hop on, start it and it goes the normal speed it should. Thoughts? Can the under/direct have issues that can cuase this? Thanks

I don't know what to say about this. Larry

Oliver 1800a diesel runs for a minute and stalls

IP: 97.41.0.165 Posted on December 9, 2015 at 05:08:54 PM by Josh Ambrose

I have an Oliver 1800a that will start up and run real well, at any rpm and then stall out completely, I have great fuel flow up to the injection pump using the priming plunger, so I am not sure if it's still a supply issue or perhaps an injection pump issue, or maybe even something I am completely over looking, I rebuilt the injectors down in Estherville at the place you recommended and boy is that an improvement, but before I rebuilt them it ran terrible, but would not stall but now it does, not sure what could have changed, thanks for your time, Larry.

Sounds like a plug in the return line from the pump to the fuel tank. Loosen the return line at the pump and check if fuel is coming out, if it is and engine runs, check line to tank for a kink or blockage, if engine still shuts down restrictor fitting on pump most likely plugged, remove it and clean.

The return that comes off of the top of the pump and goes to the tank could be plugged. Otherwise, there may be something in the fuel system that is starving the pump. Check the neck of the fuel strainer and see if there is something in there. Larry

Is the restrictor fitting the fitting that leads form the inlet hose to the pump itself? if so I have removed it and the wire mesh screen beneath it and blew air both directions and it seemed to be clear the engine still stalls regaurdless of if the return is disconnected or not, thanks

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on December 14, 2015 at 09:29:34 AM by Larry Harsin

No. The restrictor fitting is on the return line, on the top the pump. Larry

Re(5): Oliver 1800a diesel runs for a minute and stalls

IP: 71.32.128.196 Posted on December 13, 2015 at 05:54:08 PM by Josh Ambrose

I removed the line and blew through it and it seemed unrestricted, to be safe I started it with it disconnected and it leaked some fuel out but stalled all the same, I removed the fitting leading from the inlet hose to the injection pump, and blew air both ways through the fitting and still found no blockage, I reassembled and still have the stalling issue, I also removed the fitting that leads from the injection pump out to the return line and line from the injectors, and found it to be clear as well with the exception of what appears to be a glass BB? i can blow trough all openings but it is slightly restricted on the glass BB opening I am not sure if this is proper function, also do you have any other ideas, I think this tractor will really run well if i can just figure this issue out, thanks again!

Try eliminating the restrictor line with the glass bead and see what that does. I really don't think it will help, but you never know. Larry
