If you can't get it to work satisfactorily, you will have to take the lid off and free up the regulating spool in the servo valve. Larry

When I raise my 3 pt hitch it comes up part way and then if I go to lower it, it will come up more. Not operating properly. It's on a 1365

1550 carburetor

IP: 166.181.82.186 Posted on February 21, 2016 at 03:01:08 PM by Larry

I have a 1550 idle is terrible chokes and dies . New distributer new carburetor and it still won't run right especially cold. If you put your hand over the air intake on the carburetor there is very little vacuum everything checks out and running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated thanks

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 22, 2016 at 07:32:12 AM by Larry Harsin

Maybe a compression test would be in order. Maybe you have insufficient vacuum which could come from a crack in the manifold or leaking gaskets. Larry

3 point quadrant

IP: 24.197.237.171 Posted on February 19, 2016 at 02:30:26 PM by jake collie My 3 point works fine as far as up and down goes but it only works on the lower half of the quadrant. What I mean is, when I lower the handle down all the way the arms go all the way down. When I pick the handle 1/2 way up the arms come all the way up. I am told this is how they all (1850) work but why don't they use the top 1/2 of the quadrant? Re(1): 3 point quadrant IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 22, 2016 at 07:29:53 AM by Larry Harsin Because it is not adjusted that way. You may have something out of adjustment. Check it out as the adjustments in your Operator's Manual. You can get one from the Museum in Charles City. 641-228-1099. Larry

1850 3pt won't lift

IP: 216.180.214.50 Posted on February 18, 2016 at 07:59:51 PM by Todd P

Hi Larry. Last spring when I got my 1850 out of winter storage, the 3pt had stopped raising. It just sits at it's lowest position no matter where the control is. I used it all summer that way on the baler, both remotes and PS work normally. I've had the tractor 10 years and have never made any adjustments to the hydraulics. Any direction on where to start troubleshooting would be much appreciated.

Re(1): 1850 3pt won't lift

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 22, 2016 at 07:26:58 AM by Larry Harsin

I would start the engine and run it about 2/3 throttle and wiggle both of the remote levers at the same time. I suspicion there is a regulator spool stuck in the servo valve and this should help free it. Did you check to make sure the by-pass valve is turned in, like the Operator's Manual tell you? Larry

Oliver 880

IP: 209.112.238.202 Posted on February 16, 2016 at 08:45:33 PM by Corky Marshall

1. I was just given a Oliver toolbox step for my 880. The box came with a large u-bolt, but that doesn't seem to be the right way to mount it. What is the correct way to mount it?
2. My generator started showing major discharge all of the sudden. It had been sitting for a couple of months. If it needs to go in for repairs, have you got any suggestions. I don't trust our local shop because I have the PS canister and assembly on mine. It's still 12v Positive ground.

That U-Bolt goes round the axle housing to attach the step. Question 2: I'd take it off and take it in and have it tested. Larry

Old Oliver Industrial Loader Tractor

IP: 216.117.236.64 Posted on February 10, 2016 at 10:24:42 AM by Ken Henrie

I am looking at an Oliver Industrial loader tractor. I can not find a model number but the Specification number is 37-7071 and the serial number is 72 811-714. Can you tell me the model? Year? Can you help me with a source for repairs and parts? It needs a lot of work.

Your tractor could be a 770 Ind. or an 880 Ind. Hope you have gotten an answer by now. I'm guessing a 1959. We have been gone for 3 wks. Larry

I think it is possible to do the engine question that way. The answer to the 2nd. question is yes. Larry

I have an 1800 Oliver, all of the hydraulics stopped working. bucket will not tilt or up and down, allso the 3 point will not move. could it be vavles or the pump. thanks.

Re(1): hydraulics

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 22, 2016 at 07:09:16 AM by Larry Harsin

It could be the drive that runs the hydraulic system is not operating. Like worn splines on the drive shaft. Sorry we are slow in answering. We have been gone. Larry

Draw bar

IP: 1.136.96.16 Posted on February 7, 2016 at 01:52:18 PM by Mark

Hi Larry can tell me was there a adjustable draw bar for a higher or lower pulling point made at the Oliver plant or was it done at the dealers after market if so do you have photo? Cheers Mark

Re(1): Draw bar

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 20, 2016 at 04:23:57 PM by Larry Harsin This is covered in your Operator's Manual. You can get one from the Museum in Charles City 641-228-1099. There are different adjustments for different models. Sorry to be slow in answering, we have been gone. Larry

1650 clutch

IP: 72.161.18.135 Posted on February 5, 2016 at 11:20:18 AM by Rendell Mininger

Hi Larry, I own a 1650 oliver diesel and noticed the other day while doing some loader work that the clutch slipped a little. Also it happened once before. What will it cost and what for labor is involved if the clutch needs repairing? And is there a simple solution that needs to be checked into?

Re(1): 1650 clutch

IP: 69.26.10.96 Posted on February 11, 2016 at 09:09:57 AM by Bill

Correct - a relatively big job - more than I wanted to tackle so I let an expert do it.

Re(2): 1650 clutch

IP: 69.26.10.96 Posted on February 9, 2016 at 08:26:22 PM by Bill

Sorry - no simple fix. Ya gotta pull the engine to replace the clutch. I also have a 1650D and just went through it. The clutch sure works nice now though!

Re(3): 1650 clutch

IP: 72.161.18.135 Posted on February 10, 2016 at 06:16:38 PM by Rendell Mininger

Thanks Bill for the response. So I imagine that's a pretty big job. The engine has to be lifted out of the frame with a hoist right?

Re(2): 1650 clutch

IP: 184.21.143.147 Posted on February 20, 2016 at 04:21:41 PM by Larry Harsin

A clutch job can run from $1000 to $1500 labor and all. Sorry to be late in answerng. We were gone for 3 weeks. Larry
