Oliver 77 hydraulics

Posted by Eric Jacobson on January 14, 2017, 2:16 pm 205.185.133.90

I'm going to add power steering to our 77 and was wondering if there is a port on the hydraulics that has constant flow/pressure? I was thinking about teeing into the ports that come out for the hydraulic outlets but got thinking that there probably isn't constant flow/pressure there. I do understand that I may loose steering if using the hydraulics that way but we haven't used it in any implements requiring hydraulics yet. In some reading I've done so far I believe it has the type 2 hydraulic system on it, where the levers get clamped on the short studs coming out of the side of the unit. Any help would be appreciated, even if to say it can't be done. Thanks, Eric

I'm restoring a 2-44 and need some push rods for it. Do you know where I can find some? I've located a set for a super55 but need to know if they are the same as the 2-44. Which models have pushrods that will interchange? Thanks

Oliver 1850 stalled when plowing snow in -10 degree weather.

Posted by dennis on January 15, 2017, 2:11 pm 65.129.61.242

When plowing snow in fourth gear with a rear rhino blade going just fine until I heard a noise coming from what I thought was the clutch. I engaged the clutch put it in neutral. Looked at all my gauges I had good oil pressure temperature voltage everything look good I put in third gear move forward 30 feet and that's when it stalled. I couldn't get it to start right away unless I held the clutch in. But I couldn't let the clutch out in any gear without stalling it I was able to find neutral and pull back to our shop. We have the manual and looked into instructions to remove the top of the transmission and found the main cluster fork gear Will not move back. The sinkro is not moving enough to line the lower gear up. when top of tranny removed we noticed these things.... a little moisture in case from cracked shifter boot boot. low tranny fluid perhaps 8 quarts low Most importantly we found the oil lines coming from the pump was un threaded all we could see was the inverted flair on the tubing we had to get a wire and reach back in to the transfer case hook the locknut and pull it forward. What i think is welded main cluster gear to shaft ????

Your thoughts Thank you Dennis

cockshutt 1650 Hydraulics

Posted by Shawn on January 15, 2017, 9:50 pm 64.114.105.239

I have a 1650 Cockshutt with a presumably bad pump or pump seal.all the oil ended up in the trans/diff again. this happened back in 2011(pump seal blew), then we put in a used pump and all seemed fine till the end of our 2016 haying season. cutting hay with our NH499 and lost power steering and hydraulics.. added oil to hydraulics and went again, then about 15 or so mins later same thing, lost steering, that point i figured i knew it had to be leaking back into the trans/diff. so my question is, i want to be sure i get the right pump. last time it was a used one, this time its gonna be NEW!! i need to know what the correct part # is for the proper pump. last pump did not have relief valve in pump body. one i got from wrecker looked alot newer, but it was used. it is a Wheatland version. Model # 165-4204. Serial # 161-578-468. external hydraulics. i did replace the external valves with a set from Princess Auto(HZ30 i think -spring 2015). also refreshed the main relief valve located under back seat mount with new spring, plunger, seat, washer and shims. put gauge on test port near relief and only gets to 1800psi or so. not sure if there is a underlying problem that would make the pump blow its seal. other than it was used..... we do use it with a JD48 Loader which i got from a IH530 that we sold. would like to know the correct pump to get and anything i should check. Thanks Shawn

There are two different pumps. The tractor built with a 3 point hitch was different than one built without a 3 point hitch. When you talk to your supplier, tell him which one you have. Larry

1650 PTO Seal

Posted by Roy on January 17, 2017, 12:10 pm 68.21.87.4

Hi Larry, Need to install the seal behind the spanner nut in a 1650. It is a '64 and was not installed at factory. My question is can I install this without pulling the whole PTO out? I had it out a couple of years ago and put the cap and snap ring on, but didn't notice that it also should have a seal in the design change. Seems like I should be able to do this, but just not sure. Thanks for any advice on this.

Re: 1650 PTO Seal

In that instance, I normally put an O ring on the outside of the bearing on the output shaft. If transmission oil is coming through the bearing, I install a new bearing while I am doing it. Larry

Re: 1650 PTO Seal

Posted by Roy on January 23, 2017, 6:07 am, in reply to "Re: 1650 PTO Seal" 68.21.87.4

Yeah, that is exactly what I did a couple years ago. It still leaks through the new bearing, so I'm thinking that I should put the seal in there. I can confirm that it doesn't leak around the bearing, but through it. Thanks Larry

Yes. You'll have to replace the complete bearing. Larry

Did that the last time, oil went right through it. I thought that would fix it too, but it didn't. I did put that seal in, seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks Larry

Oliver 1800 with a 283 gas

Im wondering if anyone makes a high compression piston for this engine or can i put pistons and sleeves from from a 310 in it Thanks Larry

The pistons for a 310 won't work for a 283 because the wrist pin is in a different position. Larry

1650 steers hard only to the left

Posted by Cory on January 23, 2017, 9:44 am 207.5.116.165

I have a 1650 with the Saginaw steering motor. It only steers hard to the left. The pressure readings at the priority valve are 1000psi turning right and 750 turning left. Any thoughts on what my problem could be?

Re: 1650 steers hard only to the left

Posted by Larry Harsin on January 24, 2017, 9:08 am, in reply to "1650 steers hard only to the left" 184.21.143.147

There could be something binding in the column. Also, you could have a broken snap ring inside the hydromoter. Where the rotor is splined onto the shaft. Larry

1850

Larry, We have a 1850 and thought we had a bad hydraulic pump that would build 1800psi with 13 shims in the needle valve. My question is is there anything besides the pump that we need to look for that could be the problem. The dealer we got the pump from said it has to be the pump and they are wanting to replace the pump, but I dont want to replace it if there is something we are overlooking. Thank You and any advice would be appreciated. Kevin

1971 Oliver 1555 hydraulic pump

Posted by Kent on January 26, 2017, 4:55 pm 64.25.202.42

We are trying to find a replacement hydraulic pump but are not sure of some of the terms. We found a new Oliver hydraulic pump on tractor parts asap but don't understand the "external relief valve". How do we know if our pump has an external relief valve? We seem to be uncertain about the term external hydraulics also. Thank you for your time helping us.

Before I can answer this, I need to know if your tractor has a 3 Pt. Hitch or not. If it has a 3 Pt. Hitch, you should be able to access the relief valve from the outside of the tractor. Larry

1750 Hiniker 1300 cab mounts

I am trying to find the mounting brackets for a Hiniker 1300 cab for a 1750. I have them for a 1950 but they are different. Does any one have any idea where I might find some parts for this cab for Oliver tractors? I've been looking and can find lots of parts for John Deere and International tractors, but none for Olivers.
